'Messi is not my enemy' — Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on his relationship with colleague, fans react

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed claims that he and Lionel Messi are enemies, insisting that they have always shared a respectful relationship despite spending years as fierce rivals.

Speaking in an interview, the Portuguese captain said the public often mistakes their sporting rivalry for personal animosity.

"People think Lionel Messi is my enemy, but we've never had a bad relationship. We shared the awards stage for 15 years."

Ronaldo also recalled a moment when he helped Messi by translating for him, adding that the Argentine legend had always treated him with respect.

"There was a time I even translated for him. He always treated me well."

His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online. While some fans applauded Ronaldo for promoting peace between the two football icons, others remained unconvinced.

One user wrote:

"Nobody said you are enemies, just that you tried so hard over the years to make us think you're better than him when it's clearly obvious he's the best player ever."

Another commented:

"People just like unnecessary comparison. Messi is a naturally skillful player while Ronaldo is a hardworking player."

A critic said:

"You don't hate Messi but you go on Instagram commenting on his hate posts, putting his failures in your documentary and discrediting awards just because of Messi."

Another fan added:

"We don't care about your friendship, just admit Messi is the GOAT."

However, others defended Ronaldo, with one user writing:

"Anybody that believes these two hate each other must be mistaken. They are rivals, not enemies."

Another concluded:

"You are not enemies but rivals. You both did what you had to do, but people turned it into something personal."

Ronaldo's comments have once again reignited the never-ending debate among football fans over his relationship with Messi and the race for the title of the greatest player of all time.
